Annette Funicello, then 13 years old, was found to be a child by Walt Disney in an amateur performance of Swan Lake performed in Fullerton California. Funicello at the expense of the others Mickey Mouse Club stars, joined the cast after the first season had ended and was not required to apply for an audition.
